Looking into it further it appears that wp-member.com is simply an affiliate reseller selling the same script that was used to rip off a lot of people – poor coding caused issues which the developers then ‘helpfully’ offered services to “fix” the issues which of course cost $$$ – in the end I guess they got so infamous that the WP community called them out and chased them off

This might be a good option, but we’ll need to do some homework before we settle on a solution – this has to stick and be robust and have support for the long haul
